Applications are invited for postdoctoral research positions ARCO in the areas of exoplanets (to work with Dr. Allona Vazan) or high-energy astrophysics (to work with Prof. Jonathan Granot and Dr. Paz Beniamini).
The exoplanets position will focus on various aspects of exoplanet interior evolution and formation. The successful candidate is expected to work both in collaboration with Dr. Allona Vazan and independently. The research will include simulations, semi-analytic modeling, and statistical tools. Candidates should have a PhD in astronomy, physics, planetary science, or related field. Experience in numerical simulations and/or statistical and computational techniques is desirable. This position is for two years, possibly renewable for a third year contingent on research performance.
For the high-energy astrophysics positions the topics of interest include, but are not limited to, the study of gamma-ray bursts, magnetars, relativistic jets and fast radio bursts. The work may include both numerical and analytic studies, as well as detailed comparisons between theory and observations and some data analysis. Relevant experience in such types of work is an advantage. These positions are for two years, possibly renewable for a third year contingent on research performance and the availability of funds.
Starting dates are expected up to the Fall of 2022. Some funds are available for research support (travel, computing, publication fees, etc.).
Applicants should submit a single PDF containing a cover letter, curriculum vitae, list of publications, brief (up to ~3 pages) statement of research interests and experience, and arrange for three letters of recommendation to be sent to Prof. Jonathan Granot: granot@openu.ac.il for high-energy astrophysics or Dr. Allona Vazan: vazan@openu.ac.il for exoplanets.
