The main area of my research is theoretical high-energy astrophysics of transient phenomena, which deals with the study of energy release and radiation production mechanisms in the vicinity of compact objects, namely black holes and neutron stars. This involves getting an understanding of some of the fundamental and ubiquitous processes in astrophysics - particles acceleration to very high energies, their interaction with radiation fields, and energy release in magnetized outflows causing them to move almost at the speed of light. In particular, I study relativistic jets in gamma-ray bursts, magnetized outflows in magnetars and associated wind nebulae, and multi-messenger physics of compact object mergers.
